Entertaining at Home

So you've put the time, energy and money into your home for remodeling. The bathrooms are re-done with new vanities, sinks, cabinets and showers. Your kitchen cabinets have been refaced, new countertops and updated appliances. The old carpet has been ripped out infavor of nice porcelain tile. The home looks amazing! Now is the time to invite friends and family over. Their comments will defintely boost your ego. You will see that this home remodel project was worth the time and energy invested.

Of course there are many ways to entertain guests in your newly remodeled home. Here are a few of our favorite ideas:

Potluck BBQ
This is a popular idea for entertaining that helps save on the cost of food and beverage. Invite your friends and family, and request that everyone bring a different item. Decide before hand that someone is responsible for dessert, someone responsible for a side dish, etc. This makes for a great time. Organize the BBQ by theme. For example, mexican or southern food themes.

Intimate or Not?
Having guests over to the house is a great time. Before you start inviting, think about how many people you want to invite and what type of party you want to have. Maybe it will be just a few guests or perhaps it will be a 50 guest blow out. Once you have determined who is on the guest list, think about the best way to feed and entertain. A large guest list might dictate having a barbecue where hamburgers, hot dogs and corn on the cob are the dishes served. A more intimate party with fewer guests may allow you to whip up something special.

Pool Party
A great way to show off your new backyard is to have a pool party. Since the party will be during the day, this is a great low key way to entertain friends and family. It is also a great way to have neighbors over to the house that you casually see when getting the mail or going for a walk. In the summer, a pool is key for escaping the heat. A pool party is fun for most anyone because it doesn't involve putting on make-up or choosing the right outfit. Just show up, relax, swim and socialize!
